Quick start

1. Install Akshar

1

Install Akshar

Download from the App Store. Open the app once so iOS registers the keyboard extension.

2

Add the keyboard

Open iOS Settings, then General › Keyboard › Keyboards › Add New Keyboard, and pick Akshar.

3

Start typing

In any app, tap the globe icon on your keyboard to switch to Akshar. Type in English, pick your language, tap a suggestion.

Common questions

Setup and everyday use
Do I need Full Access?

No. Akshar works perfectly without Full Access. The keyboard itself, transliteration, script switching, and suggestions, all run fine in the sandboxed mode.

Full Access is only needed if you want the companion app's settings (preferred languages, chosen theme, layout) to reach the keyboard extension. If you never change those, you can safely leave Full Access off.

Even with Full Access on, Akshar does not send anything over the internet. The toggle is an iOS-level permission; see the Privacy policy for details.

How do I switch between languages?

Long-press the globe icon on the keyboard to see all enabled languages. Tap the one you want.

You can reorder or hide languages in the Akshar app under Languages.

How do I change the app icon?

Open the Akshar app, go to App Icons, and tap one of the designs. iOS will swap the icon on your Home Screen.

How do I delete Akshar?

Long-press the Akshar app icon on your Home Screen, tap Remove App › Delete App. This removes the app and the keyboard together.

If you had iCloud sync on, the Akshar data in iCloud (preferences, notes, and conversion history) will be removed by iOS when the app is uninstalled on all your devices.
